Let me start by saying that I had been taking a vacation from the darker reads. The world is in a dark place and my brain really doesn't need any more nightmare fodder! However, when I read Luca's blurb, my interest was definitely piqued.
Luca is an absolute dream and Evie is a strong counterpart to Luca's steadiness. Evie fought the attraction, but Luca's kindness and protectiveness won her over. They both have secrets, they both had tough breaks...they really have more in common than they think!
I really enjoyed the story, but I enjoyed the relationship building even more. Between Evie and Lexie, Evie and Luca, and between the whole team. Being romantic suspense, some scenes and flashbacks have descriptions of violence, so if that's a trigger for you, you can certainly skip through that. This is the first book of a series and the author did a great job with worldbuilding. We have enough information, but not too much so that we can be curious about what's to come. A fantastic read from Nyssa Kathryn and definite five stars for Luca. I can't wait to know more!!
